life as of late

wow okay. so much cool party happening this winter.

we started recording songs on december 14th, 2025 and as im writing this on feb 25th, 2026, the songs are being mastered. a cool party ep will be out soon!

i wont give too much away, but there are 6 songs on the ep. and we will have a show to celebrate this new release. ill go ahead and spoil that now since it's coming up so soon.

friday, april 10th you can watch cool party play a set of 8ish songs in doinks burger joint in waterloo. and our friends pro skater will open the night. show starts at 10pm (doinks after hours).

we'll have a bunch of merch too. maybe stickers, definitely the new cool party zine, maybe some... phsycial copies... of the ep....

i haven't had a project feel this fullfilling in a long time, and i'm very proud of the work myself and my bandmates have put into these songs :))))))))))))))

here's a little something i wrote last night:

tldr: i was unable to write songs until i did and now they are being released

when i was about 10 years old, i started taking guitar lessons. i hated how hard it was to make out chords with my tiny hands so i immediately switched over to learning piano. then i got bored of piano and picked up the bass. then i went to college for bass. and then i hated playing bass.

randomly during my last semester in school i picked up my acoustic and started learning smashing pumpkins songs. fast forward to now, i have written probably over 50 songs. most of which have been scrapped, but the hits and favorites have been saved.

for the longest time i convinced myself i was incapable of writing a song because i was a bass player. and because im not a lyrics person. so how could i ever write lyrics? or chord structures? how could i ever be real enough in my own brain to write music that makes me feel how i feel and write words that make me feel how i actually feel? being under oath is a promise to tell the entire truth no matter what, in words and writings. no one cares, be creative. here we are
