Cool Party cuties
How we got here

In the fall of 2023, I hit a wall musically. At the time I was a student at CSU studying music, and it was so draining that I needed a break from even picking up an instrument. All it took was getting my feelings hurt, acquiring a baby cat (gus gus!), moving into a tiny apartment on the west side, and dropping out of college (lol) for me to want to pick up my guitar every night and spit out a handful of songs that make cool party what it is. Being mainly a bass player, I always found it really difficult to write songs on the instrument. I picked guitar back up while I was still studying at CSU and took a few lessons. I spent time learning Smashing Pumpkins songs and experimenting with different tunings. With more free time being out of school, I started to just sit down and write songs every night when I got home from work. It was really cool how I was able to do a complete 180 from not having any interest in touching an instrument to writing like 15 songs in 3ish months. I give a good chunk of credit to Karly Hartzman from Wednesday for pulling me out of my music funk and showing me (through her own writing and songs) that nothing fucking matters and that you should just write music that makes you happy. Most of my lyrics mean nothing to me, yes my guitar is out of tune, and yes I’m just here to have a good time. I love my bandmates so much and I’m so grateful to have a group of people who can help me bring these songs to life in their own unique ways. I just wanted to do something chill, low commitment, and play fun songs and yell about boys that I don't like. -Laurel

Karly Hartzman said in an interview once: "I’m committing to whatever I need to do here and fuck everything else."
