In the fall of 2023, I hit a wall musically. At the time, I was a student at CSU studying music, and it was so draining that I needed a break from even picking up an instrument. All it took was getting my feelings hurt, acquiring a baby cat (gus gus!), moving into a tiny apartment on the west side, and dropping out of college (lol) for me to want to pick up my guitar every night and spit out a handful of songs that make cool party what it is. Being mainly a bass player, I always found it really difficult to write songs on the instrument. I picked my guitar back up while I was still studying at CSU and took a few lessons. I spent time learning Smashing Pumpkins songs and experimenting with different tunings. With more free time being out of school, I started to just sit down and write songs every night when I got home from work.
I love my bandmates so much and I’m so grateful to have a group of people who can help me bring these songs to life in their own unique ways. I just wanted to do something chill, low commitment, and play fun songs and yell about shit that bothers meeeee. -Laurel
